“Aliens” (エイリアン2), Original International One‑Sheet Main Artwork Movie Poster 1986, 1 Sheet Size (Approx. 69 × 104 cm)

Sale price $200.00

This particular poster was sourced in Tokyo, where international one‑sheets were shipped by the studio to accompany Japanese‑language marketing materials and sometimes displayed in cinemas or used in press and trade promotion alongside the local B2 posters and flyers. Very occasionally we have original international one-sheets (these are often included in a bulk purchase!) - many were sent to theatres in Japan and not used like this one and stored folded as issued for decades. We were even lucky enough to secure TWO Revenge of the Jedi (holy grail undated) posters recently.

This is an original English‑language international one‑sheet poster printed in 1986 for the theatrical release of Aliens (エイリアン2), James Cameron’s legendary sci‑fi action sequel. This is the dramatic “Ripley and Newt” style used across many overseas markets.

Film background

Aliens picks up 57 years after the events of Alien. Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) is discovered in deep sleep and persuaded to return to LV‑426, now a terraforming colony that has mysteriously gone silent. Accompanied by Colonial Marines – including Corporal Hicks (Michael Biehn), Hudson (Bill Paxton), Bishop (Lance Henriksen) and company rep Burke (Paul Reiser) – Ripley finds herself once again fighting for survival, this time while protecting the young survivor Newt (Carrie Henn).

James Cameron fuses intense action with character drama, turning Ripley into one of cinema’s definitive protagonists and redefining what a “genre sequel” could be. The film was both a box‑office hit and a critical triumph, winning two Academy Awards and cementing the Alien franchise as a cornerstone of modern science fiction.

Poster design

This international one‑sheet combines a powerful character image with clean, bold typography. At the top, the haunting line “There are some places in the universe you don’t go alone.” sets the mood. The central image shows Ripley clutching Newt while wielding the iconic M41A pulse rifle and flamethrower rig, rain and smoke swirling around them – an instantly recognisable piece of imagery that captures the film’s mix of maternal instinct and unrelenting combat.

Below the image, the glowing “ALIENS” logotype anchors the composition, with the credit block for Cameron, Weaver, the supporting cast and key creative team running along the bottom. Framed by a white border, the artwork has a strong, cinematic presence and displays beautifully when framed.

About the international one‑sheet

International one‑sheets are English‑language posters printed by the studio in standard one‑sheet size for export to non‑US territories. They were supplied to overseas distributors and cinemas as part of global publicity packages, often used in English‑speaking venues or alongside locally designed posters.

Our example was sourced in Tokyo, where English‑language one‑sheets were sent by 20th Century Fox for use in marketing and trade promotion alongside the Japanese B2 posters, flyers and trailers. As such, it’s a piece of both Hollywood and Japanese cinema history.

Rarity and condition

Original 1986 international one‑sheets for Aliens are highly collectible, especially in this classic Ripley‑and‑Newt style. Many were heavily used or discarded after the film’s initial run, so well‑preserved examples are increasingly difficult to find.

This poster is in very good to excellent condition. The colours remain vivid, with strong blacks and no fading. It retains its original factory folds (as issued), with only light fold wear and a few small handling creases typical of a poster that was shipped and stored but not heavily displayed. There are no major defects, no writing and no tape residue. Please review the photos for an accurate view of condition – they show the exact item you will receive.

It is almost 40 years old.

It is not a reproduction or a reprint.

Certificate of Authenticity included.
