This is an original Japanese B1 theatrical poster printed in 1978 for the first Japanese release of National Lampoon’s Animal House (アニマル・ハウス), the era-defining college comedy directed by John Landis and starring John Belushi. A cornerstone of late-’70s American comedy, it set the template for decades of campus and “party chaos” films that followed.
This poster is very hard to find in the large B1 format.
Design
A glorious illustrated riot: the Delta House is rendered as a single, exploding tableau packed with gags—Belushi perched like a king, motorcycles flying, food fights, broken windows, and a crowd of characters and cameos spilling across the lawn. The bold diagonal Japanese title ribbon 「アニマル・ハウス」 slashes through the candy-striped border, giving the sheet huge visual energy and instantly placing it in the late-’70s Japanese marketing style for American comedy hits. A true wall-dominating display piece in the oversized B1 format.
