“Battles Without Honor and Humanity: Hiroshima Death Match” (仁義なき戦い 広島死闘篇), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1973, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O690

Sale price $200.00

This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster issued for the 1973 cinema release of Battles Without Honor and Humanity: Hiroshima Death Match (仁義なき戦い 広島死闘篇), the explosive second chapter in Kinji Fukasaku’s landmark yakuza series for Toei.

Film background
Released in 1973, Hiroshima Death Match expands Fukasaku’s “true-record” (実録) world—post-war chaos, factional power games, and street-level brutality—told with the director’s signature documentary intensity and moral heat. The series became a cornerstone of modern Japanese crime cinema, and this instalment is often singled out for its relentless pace and escalating violence.

Poster design
A striking, graphic-led composition dominated by a saturated red field: a revolver erupts from a stark white “file/envelope” motif, while scattered mugshot-style portraits and silhouetted figures create a sense of surveillance, threat, and organised violence. The design feels deliberately modern—almost like a crime dossier turned into pop-art—matching Fukasaku’s hard-edged, anti-romantic approach to the yakuza myth.
