“Bob Marley: One Love”, Original Japanese First Release Movie Poster 2024, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) L288

Sale price $150.00

This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed for the film’s first Japanese release in 2024. Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, Bob Marley: One Love (ボブ・マーリー ONE LOVE) stars Kingsley Ben-Adir as Bob Marley and Lashana Lynch as Rita Marley. Distributed in Japan by Towa Pictures and Paramount Pictures, the film opened nationwide on 17 May 2024.

Produced with the participation of the Marley family, the film presents a focused account of a pivotal period in Marley’s life, tracing his political influence, artistic development, attempted assassination, London exile, and eventual return to Jamaica.

Film background

Bob Marley: One Love concentrates principally on the years between 1976 and 1978, when Marley’s music became inseparable from Jamaica’s political and social tensions.

Following an assassination attempt at his Kingston home, Marley relocates to London, where he records the landmark album Exodus. The film culminates in his return to Jamaica and the historic One Love Peace Concert, during which he brought rival political leaders Michael Manley and Edward Seaga together onstage.

Kingsley Ben-Adir’s performance captures Marley’s distinctive physicality, speech, spiritual conviction, and commanding stage presence, while Lashana Lynch portrays Rita Marley as an essential artistic, personal, and political presence within his life.

The production was developed with the involvement of Ziggy Marley, Cedella Marley, and Rita Marley, giving the film direct access to the family’s memories and to the music that made Marley one of the most influential recording artists of the 20th century.

Poster design

This Japanese B2 is dominated by a heroic concert image of Kingsley Ben-Adir as Bob Marley, shown singing into a microphone with one fist raised above a packed stadium.

The composition is saturated with intense yellow, orange, red, and green illumination. The glowing stage light evokes the familiar Rastafarian colour spectrum while giving the image the scale and emotional charge of a major live performance.

The English title appears in monumental white typography:

“ONE LOVE”

Above it, the Japanese title reads:

「ボブ・マーリー」
“Bob Marley”

The vertical campaign line at upper right states:

「ひとつの愛が、世界を変えた。」

Approximately:

“One love changed the world.”

The smaller phonetic annotation beside 「ひとつ」 identifies the phrase as “One Love,” directly connecting the Japanese copy to Marley’s defining message of unity.

Across the lower border appears the further campaign line:

「時代は再び求める。世界中の人々の希望となった男の“唯一無二”の物語。」

Approximately:

“The times call for him once again. The unique story of the man who became a symbol of hope to people throughout the world.”

The Japanese release date is prominently displayed:

「5.17[FRI]」

The brilliant stadium lighting, raised fist, flowing dreadlocks, and enormous title treatment give the poster strong visual immediacy and exceptional contemporary display presence.

Cultural significance

Bob Marley’s music extended far beyond conventional popular entertainment. His recordings brought reggae to a global audience while communicating enduring messages of unity, resistance, spirituality, freedom, and social justice.

The film introduced Marley’s work and political importance to a new generation while renewing international attention around albums including Exodus, Catch a Fire, and Rastaman Vibration, as well as songs such as “One Love,” “Redemption Song,” “No Woman, No Cry,” and “Get Up, Stand Up.”
