“Cars” (カーズ), Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 2006, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) H220

This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 2006 for the first theatrical release of Disney•Pixar’s Cars. Featuring an expansive gathering of characters in Radiator Springs, this colourful design captures the humour, warmth, and affection for American motoring that define the film.

Film background
Directed by John Lasseter, Cars follows ambitious young racing star Lightning McQueen, whose journey to a championship race takes an unexpected detour through a forgotten town on Route 66. Through his friendships with Mater, Sally, and Doc Hudson, he discovers the importance of community and learns that success involves more than crossing the finish line first.

Combining racing spectacle with a nostalgic celebration of roadside America, the film introduced one of Pixar’s most recognisable worlds.

Poster design
A richly detailed ensemble composition places Lightning McQueen’s brilliant red racing car at the forefront, flanked by Sally and Mater. Behind them, dozens of vehicles fill the main street, with familiar characters including Doc Hudson, Luigi, Guido, and Ramone rewarding closer inspection.

The buildings and signs of Radiator Springs lead the eye towards towering desert rock formations beneath a glowing pink-and-orange sky. Route 66 signage, Flo’s V8 Café, and the town’s distinctive automotive architecture give the image a strong sense of place.

The Japanese promotional copy across the top connects the film with the worlds of Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., and Finding Nemo, introducing Pixar’s next adventure in “the world of cars.” The red-and-chrome 「カーズ」 emblem anchors the composition at the bottom.

Condition
Very Good / Excellent. There are handling creases towards the lower section and more apparent on the reverse. The colours remain vibrant, and the detailed artwork retains excellent display impact. Once framed, this poster will display very well.
