This is a unique opportunity to acquire both original Japanese B2 theatrical posters for Fernando Meirelles’ City of God and Paulo Morelli’s companion feature City of Men. Genuine cinema display sheets produced for the Japanese releases—powerful side-by-side documents of 21st-century Brazilian cinema.
Film background
City of God (2002)
Meirelles’ landmark crime epic charts two boys growing up in Rio’s Cidade de Deus favela—one drawn to photography, the other to a life of crime. Hailed worldwide for its kinetic style and searing realism, it earned multiple Academy Award nominations and became one of the most influential films of its era.
City of Men (2007)
Set in the same world and produced by City of God’s Fernando Meirelles, Paulo Morelli’s feature follows best friends Acerola and Laranjinha as they hit adulthood and confront gang war and family secrets. A gripping, human continuation of the favela saga.
Poster design
City of God
High-impact, two-tone palette with the looming gun-barrel figure above a street-lineup still; massive block “CITY OF GOD” typography with crisp Japanese titling delivers gallery-worthy presence.
City of Men
Gritty photographic collage of Rio street life and friends-turned-gunmen; distressed yellow “CITY OF MEN” masthead with bullet-hit motifs and Japanese sub-title makes a bold visual companion to City of God.
Together these B2s form a striking diptych—matching typographic scale, favela imagery, and modern graphic treatments—perfect for pairing in a single display.
