“Color of Night” (薔薇の素顔), Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 1994, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) T297

Sale price $113.00

This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster produced for the 1994 first Japanese release of Color of Night, directed by Richard Rush and starring Bruce Willis and Jane March. Released in Japan through Toho-Towa, the film combines psychological suspense, romantic obsession and murder mystery in the distinctive style of the 1990s erotic thriller.

Willis plays Bill Capa, a psychologist who leaves New York following a patient’s death and visits a colleague in Los Angeles. When that colleague is murdered, Capa becomes involved with his therapy group while beginning a relationship with the mysterious Rose, played by March. As the investigation develops, attraction and suspicion become increasingly difficult to separate. The supporting cast includes Rubén Blades, Lesley Ann Warren, Brad Dourif and Lance Henriksen.

The Japanese poster uses an intimate, tightly cropped image of the central couple, their faces emerging from deep shadow in saturated crimson and rose tones. The grainy photographic treatment gives the composition a hazy, unsettling atmosphere, balancing the film’s romantic imagery with a sense of danger.

Large red Japanese cast names run across the top, with March’s billing referencing The Lover, her earlier breakthrough film. Across the lower portion, the Japanese title 「薔薇の素顔」 appears in elegant white lettering edged in red, while the smaller English title sits at the lower right.

The vertical Japanese tagline translates approximately as “Which of my selves loved you—and which will kill you?” Its suggestion of concealed identity reinforces the film’s central mystery and gives this Japanese campaign its own distinctive emphasis.

Excellent condition overall, with small pinholes, minor surface scuffs and light edge wear, particularly around the upper corners, as shown in the additional close-up photograph. The principal image retains strong colour and excellent visual impact. Once framed, this poster will display excellently.
