"Conan the Barbarian" (コナン・ザ・グレート), Original First Release Japanese Movie Poster 1982, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) S272

This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster issued for the first release of Conan the Barbarian in Japan, John Milius’s sword-and-sorcery epic starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sandahl Bergman, and James Earl Jones (co-written with Oliver Stone). A landmark of the genre, the film forged Schwarzenegger’s action-hero persona with brutal mythmaking and Basil Poledouris’s thunderous score.

Design
Powerful painted artwork by Seito: Conan stands foreground with broadsword catching a starburst of light, backed by a sky of fire and a razed settlement. At the base, fleeing villagers and vignettes of Valeria and young Conan reinforce the saga’s vengeance arc. The bold Japanese title block scorches across the foot, with the English logo at right—an unmistakable 1980s Japanese studio style married to classic fantasy illustration.

This poster was previously displayed in the cinema, it has small pinholes and some evidence of display at the very bottom of the poster - please see additional close up imagery provided. We have taken the condition into account when pricing. Once framed, this poster will display excellently.
