“La Prostitution” (白い女奴隷), Original Japanese Movie Poster 1963, Évelyne Dassas / Etchika Choureau, B2 Format (c. 51 × 73 cm) — U20

Sale price $135.00

This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster for the 1963 Japanese release of La Prostitution, released under the title 白い女奴隷 (Shiroi Onna Dorei), meaning “White Female Slave.” Distributed by Shoei Film, the Japanese release opened on 10 September 1963. The design combines glamorous portraiture with sensational promotional copy and a montage of international locations.

Directed by Maurice Boutel, the French crime drama stars Évelyne Dassas, Etchika Choureau, and Alain Lionel. The story follows a young woman who arrives in Paris hoping to become a nurse, only to be drawn into an international prostitution network through a man’s false promises. The Japanese campaign presents the film as a “semi-documentary,” emphasising its exposé of exploitation and its journey through cities across Europe, Mexico, and Hong Kong.

Printed on one B2 sheet, the composition centres on a large photographic portrait of a smiling woman wearing dark lace lingerie. A smaller figure in a red dress appears at the lower left, beneath a street scene framed by a stone archway. The warm colours of these central images stand out against the deep black background.

Angular, blue-tinted photographic panels run across the top and down the right side, individually labelled with locations including Paris, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Hamburg, Mexico, Veracruz, and Hong Kong. Pink cast and production credits sit above the original French title, while the Shoei distributor logo appears at the upper right. Across the bottom, the enormous white lettering 「白い女奴隷」 gives the design its strongest graphic feature.

The yellow promotional banner across the top reads:

「パリ・ロッテルダム・アンベール・ハンブルグ・メキシコ・ベラクルス・香港を舞台にしたセミ・ドキュメンタリー!」
“A semi-documentary set in Paris, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Hamburg, Mexico, Veracruz, and Hong Kong!”

The combination of photographic collage, contrasting colours, and expressive Japanese typography makes this an appealing example for collectors of French exploitation cinema, Maurice Boutel, and Japanese film advertising of the 1960s.
