“Death of a Corrupt Man / Mort d’un pourri” (チェイサー), Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 1978, Alain Delon, B2 Size (c. 51 × 73 cm) — T20

This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster produced for the 1978 Japanese first release of Death of a Corrupt Man, released in Japan as チェイサー (Chaser). Distributed by Nippon Herald Films, the film opened in Japan on 11 November 1978.

Directed by Georges Lautner, the 1977 French political thriller stars Alain Delon, who also produced the film. Adapted from Raf Vallet’s novel, with a screenplay by Michel Audiard and Lautner, it follows a businessman drawn into a dangerous conspiracy after agreeing to protect a friend who has murdered a corrupt politician. The ensemble includes Ornella Muti, Maurice Ron Ronet, Michel Aumont, Klaus Kinski and Mireille Darc. 

The Japanese design centres on a commanding photograph of Delon in an olive-green military-style jacket and patterned neck scarf, holding a long gun diagonally across his body. His direct gaze and guarded posture give the composition its tension, while the muted photographic colours contrast with the oversized pink Japanese title.

Yellow lettering down the right edge reads: “Wait for the target to move—Delon, the pursuer who turns his gun on the darkness of politics!” Beneath the title, the original French wording “Alain Delon présente Mort d’un pourri” appears in white. The lower credits identify Philippe Sarde’s music and Stan Getz’s performance, alongside the Nippon Herald distribution credit.

A distinctive example of Japanese advertising for French crime cinema, with particular appeal to collectors of Alain Delon, European thrillers and 1970s poster design.
