Sale price $250.00

This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1990 for the first theatrical release of Dick Tracy.

Dick Tracy is a 1990 American neo-noir action film directed and produced by Warren Beatty, who also stars as the titular detective. Based on Chester Gould’s classic comic strip, the film follows the square-jawed detective as he takes on the city’s notorious crime boss Big Boy Caprice (played by Al Pacino) and his rogues’ gallery of grotesque henchmen. Madonna co-stars as the sultry nightclub singer Breathless Mahoney, with additional performances by Dustin Hoffman, James Caan, Mandy Patinkin, and others.

The film was celebrated for its bold visual style, which meticulously recreated the look of the original comics with limited color palettes, sharp lines, and stylized set design. It went on to win three Academy Awards (Best Art Direction, Best Makeup, and Best Original Song for Stephen Sondheim’s Sooner or Later). Over the years, it has developed a cult following for its unique blend of comic-strip aesthetics, star power, and high style.

Poster design
The Japanese B1 release poster showcases a striking Pop Art-inspired illustration of Al Pacino’s Big Boy Caprice in vivid primary colors set against a stark black background, outlined in a bold red circle. The Japanese title 「ディック・トレイシー」 appears prominently below in stylized yellow and red text, perfectly echoing the comic-book origins of the character. This minimalist yet powerful design makes it one of the most eye-catching international posters for the film.
