“Django”, Original First‑Release Japanese STB Tatekan 1966, Ultra Rare, STB Size (c. 51 × 145 cm / 20 × 57 in) O401
This is an original Japanese STB (tatekan) poster printed in 1966 for the first Japanese release of Sergio Corbucci’s Django, distributed domestically by Tōwa (東和 / TOWA). Japan opened the film on 1966‑09‑23; this tall STB format was used on street frames and theater façades and was printed in far smaller quantities than standard B2s. An Eirin ratings seal with code is printed at lower left (period‑correct for a 1966 release).
Translations of on‑poster Japanese (highlights):
-
Giant green/red title 「続・荒野の用心棒」 (Zoku Kōya no Yōjinbō)—the Japanese release title for Django.
-
Right red tagline: 「夕陽をあびて、さすらいの用心棒が帰ってきた……」 → “Bathed in the setting sun, the wandering bodyguard returns…”
-
Process line: 「総天然色/テクニビジョン」 → “Color / Technovision.”
-
Credits: フランコ・ネロ/ロレダナ・ヌシアック/ホセ・ボダロ etc.; distributor bug: TOWA.
Design notes:
Upper half: a looming long‑gun close‑up over a dusted collage; lower half: Django amid gunplay and cavalry, with the bilingual DJANGO slug at foot. The vertical copy and the TOWA logo anchor this as the 1966 first‑issue campaign.
Condition: Excellent. Photos show the exact poster.
