“Dragon Ball Z: Wrath of the Dragon”, Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1995, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) G104
This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1995 for the first theatrical release of Dragon Ball Z: Wrath of the Dragon, released in Japan as ドラゴンボールZ 龍拳爆発!! 悟空がやらねば誰がやる. The film opened on 15 July 1995 as part of the summer Toei Anime Fair, whose distinctive “’95 Summer” emblem appears in the upper-left corner.
Featuring Super Saiyan 3 Goku and a spectacular golden dragon, this is a powerful design from the original 1990s Dragon Ball Z theatrical series.
Film background
Directed by Mitsuo Hashimoto, the film brings Akira Toriyama’s characters into an adventure involving the mysterious warrior Tapion, an enchanted music box and the enormous monster Hirudegarn.
After Tapion is released from his confinement, the heroes discover that his fate is bound to a destructive force threatening Earth. His friendship with young Trunks gives the story an emotional centre, while the climactic battle showcases Goku’s Dragon Fist attack, reflected in the poster’s dramatic imagery.
Poster design
The composition is dominated by Super Saiyan 3 Goku, charging diagonally forward with his fist extended towards the viewer. His sweeping golden hair and orange fighting clothes create a vivid burst of colour against the dark background.
Behind him, an enormous golden dragon coils across the sheet, its open jaws, long whiskers and detailed scales reinforcing the force of the attack. Shadowy images of Hirudegarn appear along the left, while streaks of crimson and purple give the surrounding space a sense of speed and impact.
The familiar yellow-and-red DRAGON BALL Z logo anchors the lower right, accompanied by pink Japanese lettering and the green film subtitle. The strong diagonal arrangement and tightly cropped artwork make this an especially striking display piece for collectors of Goku, Dragon Ball Z and Japanese anime posters of the 1990s.
Condition
Very Good / Excellent. There are visible handling creases and paper undulations, particularly apparent on the reverse, together with minor edge wear and small pinholes. The colours remain strong, and the artwork retains excellent visual impact.
