This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1973 for the first theatrical release of Female Prisoner Scorpion: #701’s Grudge Song (女囚さそり 701号怨み節), directed by Yasuharu Hasebe and distributed by Toei Company. The film is the fourth entry in the original Female Prisoner Scorpion series and once again stars Meiko Kaji as the iconic anti‑heroine Nami Matsushima.
Film background
After escaping custody yet again, Nami is hunted by the police and the ruthless Detective Hirose. She finds temporary refuge with Kudo, a sex‑club worker and former radical who shares his cramped world and growing affection with her. Their uneasy relationship is shattered when betrayal and police brutality draw Nami back into a cycle of revenge, culminating in a grim showdown that tests her resolve and the meaning of freedom. The film takes a more emotional and political tone than earlier entries, exploring state violence and personal betrayal while retaining the series’ stylised exploitation edge.
Poster design
The B2 is a striking collage of red and black. Beside her prowls a black panther, its yellow eyes echoing her predatory gaze.
