This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1981 for the first Japanese release of For Your Eyes Only, the 12th official James Bond film. Directed by John Glen, and starring Roger Moore, Carole Bouquet, Topol, Lynn-Holly Johnson, Julian Glover, and Cassandra Harris, the film marked a deliberate return to a more grounded, espionage-driven style after the space-age excess of Moonraker.

Film background
Released in 1981, For Your Eyes Only is widely regarded as one of the strongest Roger Moore Bond entries, balancing large-scale action with a more serious Cold War tone. Bond is sent to recover the ATAC system, a vital British military encryption device capable of controlling nuclear submarine strikes, after a spy vessel sinks in the Ionian Sea. The film ranges across Greece, Italy, Spain, and the Mediterranean, and includes some of the era’s most memorable stunts and action scenes.

Poster design
This is the superb Japanese-market alternative artwork, illustrated by Hisamitsu Noguchi (野口久光). Rather than reusing the better-known Western “legs and crossbow” campaign image, this design presents a richly painted, action-packed montage tailored specifically for the Japanese release.

At the centre, Roger Moore’s Bond is rendered with a notably intense, serious expression, reinforcing the film’s more realistic tone. Around him, Noguchi arranges a vivid selection of the film’s major action elements: Bond clinging to the cliffside monastery, the ski action, the yellow Citroën 2CV chase, the red Lotus Esprit Turbo, the underwater sequences, the submarine element, and Carole Bouquet as Melina Havelock holding her crossbow. The result is one of the most attractive and dynamic Japanese Bond posters of the 1980s.

The red vertical copy at upper right reads:

「危機また危機へ!シリーズ中最も多くの007アクションを投入したスーパー巨篇!!」

which may be translated as:

“From crisis to crisis! A super-epic packed with more 007 action than any entry in the series!”

A black-and-gold banner above the title reads:

「最新作・第12弾!」
“Latest film – 12th instalment!”

Collectibility
Japanese James Bond posters are highly sought after, and this example is especially desirable because it features a distinct Japan-only illustrated design rather than the standard international campaign art. For collectors of Bond memorabilia, Roger Moore material, and Japanese illustrated film posters, this is a particularly appealing and displayable sheet.
