Foreign Correspondent (1940) is a black-and-white spy thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Set in the lead-up to World War II, the film follows an American reporter in Britain who uncovers a conspiracy involving enemy spies. The cast includes Joel McCrea, Laraine Day, Herbert Marshall, and George Sanders. Hitchcock's second Hollywood film, it features a script written by multiple writers, with Robert Benchley, Charles Bennett, and others credited. Based on Vincent Sheean's memoir Personal History, the film was produced by Walter Wanger.
Nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor for Albert Bassermann, Foreign Correspondent did not win any, although Rebecca, another Hitchcock film released the same year, won the Best Picture Oscar.
