This is an original Japanese B1 theatrical poster printed for the first Japanese release of Fright Night (1985), Tom Holland’s cult 80s horror‑comedy about a suburban teen who becomes convinced his new neighbour is a vampire. Mixing sharp humour with practical effects and creature work, the film became a VHS favourite and is now regarded as one of the definitive vampire movies of the decade.
Design
The B1 design is an all‑out horror collage. Dominating the layout is a gigantic close‑up of a monstrous eye, framed at the top by a row of fanged teeth that curve across the poster like a predator’s jaw. Neon‑coloured Japanese copy runs vertically, hyping the film as a shocking SFX horror experience, while the vivid red フライトナイト title slashes across the centre. Around it are multiple stills from the movie: the terrified hero Charley, the elegantly sinister vampire Jerry Dandrige, and a series of transformation shots showing snarling werewolf‑like creatures and half‑human, half‑monster faces. Additional panels at the bottom show key scenes outside the house, grounding the surreal imagery in the film’s suburban setting. The result is a wonderfully 80s burst of colour and chaos – perfect for fans of practical‑effects horror.
Condition
Excellent. The sheet is clean and glossy with strong, unfaded colour and no major flaws. Only very light handling and a few tiny edge wrinkles from theatrical display – no significant tears, no writing and no fold lines. Please review the photos – they show the exact poster for sale.
