“Ghost-Cat Wall of Hatred” (怪猫呪いの壁), Original Release Japanese Speed Poster 1958, Rare, Speed Poster Size (c. 26 × 73 cm) ZA796

Sale price $150.00

This is an original Japanese speed poster printed in 1958 for the first theatrical release of 怪猫呪いの壁 (Kaibyō Noroi no Kabe), a classic Daiei kaibyō (ghost-cat) horror period film directed by Kenji Misumi (三隅研次). The film first opened theatrically in Japan on 15 June 1958

Starring Shintarō Katsu (勝新太郎) alongside Chieko Murata (村田知栄子), Yōko Uraji (浦路洋子), Michiko Kondō (近藤美恵子) and others, the story is a quintessential “cursed wall / vengeful spirit” kaidan—where murder, entombment, and supernatural retribution collide in true late-1950s Daiei style.

Poster design
A dramatic, vertically stacked montage composition: the colossal brush-style title 怪猫呪いの壁 dominates in blood-red, set over a chilling collage of a sinister cat-spirit figure, a sword-wielding hero, and eerie interior imagery—designed for maximum impact in the narrow speed-poster format. The Daiei branding is present on the sheet, reinforcing this as a studio-era original.

It is over 66 years old!
