"Ghostbusters II" (ゴーストバスターズ2), Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 1989 “New Year” Campaign, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O480
This is an original Japanese B2 poster produced for the first Japanese theatrical campaign of Ghostbusters II—released domestically for the New Year holiday (正月映画). The sheet features the instantly recognizable “no-ghost” emblem with the ghost flashing a peace/V-sign to mark the sequel.
Design
Pure icon power: the red ban-symbol encircles the cheerful ghost, now raising two fingers—a witty, wordless sequel mark that became the global key art. The matte black field lets the graphics punch, while the neon-rimmed title ゴーストバスターズ 2 glows along the lower band. Below, the copy promises a festive rollout: 「われらがスーパースター、とびっきり楽しい正月をお届けします!」—signalling Japan’s peak holiday release window.
Cult status / film notes
Ivan Reitman’s follow-up reunited the original team (Murray, Aykroyd, Ramis, Hudson, Weaver, Moranis) and cemented the series’ pop-culture mythology. Japanese first-issue materials with the clean “V-logo” composition are collector favorites for their minimalism and cross-cultural recognition.
