This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1971 for the first release of Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster.
Godzilla vs. Hedorah (ゴジラ対ヘドラ, Gojira tai Hedora) is a 1971 Japanese kaiju film directed by Yoshimitsu Banno, written by Banno and Takeshi Kimura, and produced and distributed by Toho Studios. It is the 11th film in the Godzilla franchise and features the iconic monsters Godzilla and Hedorah. The cast includes Akira Yamauchi, Toshie Kimura, and Hiroyuki Kawase, with special effects by Teruyoshi Nakano. Legendary suit actors Haruo Nakajima (Godzilla) and Kenpachirō Satsuma (Hedorah) bring the creatures to life—Satsuma would later portray Godzilla himself in the Heisei-era films.
Notable for its strong environmental theme, the film depicts the malevolent Hedorah as a creature born from mankind’s pollution. Released theatrically in Japan on 24 July 1971, the picture reached U.S. cinemas a year later under the title Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster (double-billed with The Thing with Two Heads).
This poster is in very good / excellent condition and the fiery, pollution-choked battle scene makes for an exceptionally striking display piece.
