This is an original Japanese B1 merchandise sales poster printed in 2001 for use in cinemas during the first Japanese theatrical run of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. It is a theater-issue promotional piece (売店用ポスター) advertising “映画オリジナル商品” and was displayed at concession/merch counters—not a standard movie one-sheet.

Campaign background

Launched alongside the film that ignited a global phenomenon, the Japanese campaign pushed officially licensed goods to young audiences and collectors—stationery, wearables, and character items tied to Hogwarts houses and iconography.

Poster design

Framed by a stone arch of Hogwarts, the sheet presents a numbered catalog of lobby goods with captions and prices in yen. Items include: phone card and bookmark sets, metal dragon and keychain charms, house-crest pin set, robe/hat/broom costume set, book cover and pop-up memo, postcard and A4 clear-file sets, B5 writing board and sticker sheet, acceptance-letter writing kit with feather quill, metal pendants (Hedwig, Golden Snitch, Sorting Hat), Gryffindor scarf, and children’s school uniform/robe options. A “クラシック・アイテム” panel highlights a crest badge set, tankard, and wristwatch. Hedwig stands at lower right above the Warner Bros. shield—pure early-2000s cinema merch nostalgia.
