This is an original Japanese STB tatekan theatrical poster for the 1972 Japanese release of Fuzz, released locally as Fukusū Hanzai, meaning “Multiple Crimes.” Over fifty years old, this complete two-sheet example combines an elaborate photographic montage with bold red graphics and dramatic action imagery.

Directed by Richard A. Colla, the film stars Burt Reynolds, Raquel Welch, Jack Weston, Tom Skerritt, and Yul Brynner. Evan Hunter adapted his own novel, published under the name Ed McBain as part of the 87th Precinct series. Set in Boston, the story follows detectives juggling overlapping investigations while pursuing an extortionist targeting city officials. Its mixture of police procedure, dark humour, and sudden violence gives the ensemble considerable scope.

Printed on two sheets arranged vertically, the design makes striking use of the tall tatekan format. Broad intersecting red bars divide the upper section, drawing the eye towards an enormous close-up of Yul Brynner. Bomb components, a prominent clock dial, and a face reflected in a vehicle mirror build a sense of surveillance and impending danger, while a small image of an exploding car punctuates the graphic framework.

The lower section features Burt Reynolds and Raquel Welch with guns raised, surrounded by a street map, an armed uniformed officer, burning vehicles, and a figure splashing through water. The oversized red title 「複数犯罪」, cut through by sharp diagonal white lines, stretches across the lower sheet. The English title “FUZZ” appears immediately above it, with Japanese cast and production credits and the United Artists logo below.

The prominent vertical tagline reads:

「今日も又VIPが狙撃された……」
“Today, another VIP has been shot by a sniper…”

The combination of geometric graphics, tightly arranged photographs, and vivid red lettering gives this poster a distinctive presence.
