“I Love the Sun” (太陽が大好き), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1966, Meiko Kaji, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA32
This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1966 for the first Japanese release of I Love the Sun (太陽が大好き), a Nikkatsu青春映画 (youth drama) directed by Mitsuo Wakasugi (若杉光夫). The film first opened in Japan on 11 May 1966.
Crucially for collectors, this film features a very early starring role for Meiko Kaji (梶芽衣子)—credited at the time as Masako Ōta / 太田雅子 (新人)—years before she became an international cult icon through Lady Snowblood and the Female Convict Scorpion series.
Poster design
A beautifully composed mid-1960s Nikkatsu design combining strong character photography and bold typography: the brooding young male lead at left (浜田光夫), the heroine striding forward in a dark school uniform at right, and a warm portrait below—anchored by the dramatic brush-stroke title 太陽が大好き in vivid red. The period 日活 branding and dense cast/credit typography complete the classic “studio era” look—an excellent, frame-ready example of Nikkatsu youth-drama artwork.
It is over 59 years old!
