“Jean-Paul Belmondo Masterpiece Selection 2” (ジャン=ポール・ベルモンド傑作選2), Original Japanese Retrospective Movie Poster 2021, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) — T103

Sale price $135.00

This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster produced for the 2021 retrospective “Jean-Paul Belmondo Masterpiece Selection 2.” Presented by King Records and distributed by Eden, the programme celebrated Belmondo’s enduring appeal through a selection of adventure, comedy and suspense films.

The five-film programme featured That Man from Rio (1964), Up to His Ears (1965), The Inheritor (1973), Ace of Aces (1982) and Amazone (2000). Its selection drew on audience requests gathered during the preceding retrospective, with That Man from Rio topping the poll. Films by Philippe de Broca, Philippe Labro and Gérard Oury showcased the combination of charm, physical comedy and action that defined much of Belmondo’s popular screen career.

The composition is dominated by a large portrait of a young Belmondo in a black dinner jacket and bow tie, his relaxed expression lending the image an unmistakable sense of confidence. The formal clothing provides a strong silhouette, while his slightly turned pose gives the portrait an informal, approachable quality.

Behind him, broad yellow and orange circular brushstrokes sweep across the pale background. Their spiralling movement gives the design a lively rhythm and recalls the colourful publicity of 1960s adventure cinema. The five film titles form a compact column along the left, each accompanied by its original title and brief credits.

Across the lower section, JEAN-PAUL BELMONDO appears in enormous textured capitals. The lettering moves through teal, blue and purple into vivid pink, red and orange, bringing a second burst of colour to the design. Beneath it, the Japanese retrospective title and prominent numeral 2 identify the campaign, with the official website and distribution credits completing the lower margin.

The bold white Japanese tagline runs vertically beside the portrait:

「冒険は終わらない。」
“The adventure never ends.”

This cheerful, energetic design makes an attractive tribute to Belmondo’s adventurous screen persona. It is particularly appealing for collectors of French cinema, Jean-Paul Belmondo and Japanese retrospective posters, with a strong combination of star portraiture and expressive modern typography.
