"Kanto Street Peddlers 3: Royal Temple Duel" (1970) – Original Japanese STB Size Poster
関東テキヤ仁義 天王寺の決斗 | Toei Studios | Starring Bunta Sugawara, Tamotsu Tamura | Directed by Toshikazu Suzuki

A fierce and visually charged original STB-size (tatekan) Japanese poster for Kanto Street Peddlers 3: Royal Temple Duel (関東テキヤ仁義 天王寺の決斗), the 1970 third chapter in Toei’s gritty Tekiya Jingi (Peddler Honor Code) series, starring a young Bunta Sugawara as a charismatic street tough navigating the violent codes of the yakuza underworld.

The poster bursts with bravado — Sugawara stands bare-chested, arms folded, draped in vivid chrysanthemum tattoos that blaze across his shoulders, a symbol of both transience and honour. Beneath him, Tamotsu Tamura kneels in preparation, sword clenched, set against the fiery skyline of Osaka’s Tennoji temple — a sacred site turned battleground in this chapter’s climactic confrontation.

Director Toshikazu Suzuki brings explosive pacing and raw energy to the series, portraying the Tekiya not just as gangsters but as drifters, enforcers of street justice, and guardians of old-school loyalty in a modernizing world. This film marked a turning point in Sugawara’s rise to stardom, preceding his later breakout in the Battles Without Honor and Humanity series.

An iconic STB-format poster for collectors of street-level yakuza films, early Bunta Sugawara, or the dynamic Osaka-set entries of Toei’s golden era of outlaw cinema.
