This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1988 for the Japanese re-release of La Commare Secca (殺し), the 1962 feature-film debut of Bernardo Bertolucci, developed from a story by Pier Paolo Pasolini. A modernist murder mystery set along the Tiber, the film announced Bertolucci’s arrival as a major voice of European cinema and returned to Japanese screens in the late 1980s art-house revival.
Poster design
A striking composition: a monochrome, close-cropped portrait of the film’s enigmatic heroine fills the lower field, overprinted in deep crimson with the large blue brush title 「殺し」. Across the top, a triptych strip of stills in green, yellow, and orange tints suggests interrogation fragments and shifting viewpoints—echoing the film’s fractured narrative. Slim vertical Japanese credits balance the layout, with the original Italian title “La Commare Secca” printed in script.
