“La fuente”, Japanese B2 Poster for 7 Days in Havana Segment, 2012, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O551

Sale price $200.00

This is an original B2‑format poster produced in 2012 to promote “La fuente” (The Fountain), the Sunday segment of the anthology film 7 Days in Havana (7 días en La Habana), directed by Laurent Cantet.

Film background
7 Days in Havana is a Spanish‑language portmanteau film made up of seven stories, each set on a different day of the week in contemporary Havana and directed by a different filmmaker, including Benicio del Toro, Gaspar Noé, Julio Medem, Elia Suleiman and Laurent Cantet.

Cantet’s closing segment “La fuente” follows Martha, an elderly woman living in a crumbling apartment block who dreams of the Virgin (syncretised with the orisha Oshun) and becomes convinced she must build a fountain in Her honour. The episode gently portrays the residents of the building as they rally together around this improvised act of faith, creating a charming portrait of community life in Havana.

Poster design
This striking screen‑print style design is by celebrated Cuban poster artist Giselle Monzón, whose signature “giselle monzón 11” appears along the right edge of the artwork.

Dominating the rich navy blue field is an oversized orange ladder forming an “A”, crowned by a radiant sunburst halo and a small crown – a playful nod to both the Virgin/Oshun and the idea of a “fountain” of blessings. Stylised white waves and small fish icons ripple across the lower half, while the bold orange title “La fuente” and credit “Dirección Laurent Cantet” anchor the composition. At the bottom are the production logos for Full House, Morena Films, Havana Club International and the film’s official website, tying it directly to the 7 Days in Havana campaign.
