“Lake of Dracula” (呪いの館 血を吸う眼), Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 1971, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA1267
An original Japanese B2 theatrical poster for Michio Yamamoto’s Lake of Dracula, released in Japan by Toho on 16 June 1971. The second film in Toho’s Bloodthirsty Trilogy stars Shin Kishida as the vampire whose golden eyes give the film its Japanese title.
In Excellent condition, with the vampire’s golden eyes and white fangs sharply defined against his blue-grey face.
Film background
Midori Fujita plays Akiko, a schoolteacher who shares a house beside Lake Fujimi with her younger sister, Natsuko (Sanae Emi). Akiko paints an image that has haunted her since childhood, a golden eye staring out from behind tangled branches. When a coffin arrives at the lakeside guesthouse, a young woman is found nearby with two puncture marks on her neck.
Poster design
Kishida’s face fills the right side of the sheet. At upper left, two candle flames separate him from the frightened couple. Below, the vampire appears again, carrying a woman in white past a stained-glass window and a suit of armour. The Japanese title 血を吸う眼 (Bloodthirsty Eyes) stretches across the foot in angular red lettering, just above a fine border of musical notes.
A line of gold text runs diagonally across the vampire’s face.
「白い霧が森を流れる夜 地下室の棺の蓋が開く! 花嫁衣裳の死美人が立ち上る…」
“On a night when white mist drifts through the forest, a coffin lid opens in the cellar! A dead woman in her bridal gown rises…”
