“LAWRENCE OF ARABIA” (1962) – ORIGINAL JAPANESE 1980 RE-RELEASE 2-SHEET B1 BILLBOARD POSTER Extremely Rare | Massive Format | 1980 Re-Release | c.103 × 146 cm

Sale price $525.00

This is an original Japanese billboard poster from the 1980 re-release of David Lean’s epic Lawrence of Arabia — a true grail item for collectors.

We have never seen this poster for sale before anywhere! It is in excellent condition (most likely not used at the time) and has been stored very carefully for almost half a century!

Printed across two B1 sheets (each c.73 × 103 cm) that combine into a towering c.103 × 146 cm display, this giant tatekan-style billboard was never intended for public sale and would originally have been used only at select theatres. Surviving examples are exceptionally scarce, especially complete as a matched two-sheet set like this. The design features a dramatic, stylised image of Lawrence brandishing a curved sword above the bold English and Japanese titles, with atmospheric desert silhouettes and portrait panels of the key characters.

Lawrence of Arabia is widely regarded as one of the greatest films ever made — an epic chronicle of T.E. Lawrence’s exploits in the Arab Revolt, starring Peter O’Toole, Omar Sharif, Alec Guinness, Anthony Quinn and Jack Hawkins. The film won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, and is renowned for its breathtaking 70mm photography, majestic score and sweeping storytelling.

This poster is more than a collectible — it’s a rare piece of cinematic history and a monumental visual statement, perfect for framing in a gallery, office, or private collection.

It is over 45 years old!

A Certificate of Authenticity is included.
