“Lone Wolf and Cub: Sword of Vengeance” (子連れ狼 子を貸し腕貸しつかまつる), Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 1972, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) F98

Sale price $300.00

This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1972 for the first release of Lone Wolf and Cub: Sword of Vengeance (子連れ狼 子を貸し腕貸しつかまつる), directed by Kenji Misumi and starring Wakayama Tomisaburō as Ogami Ittō—former shōgun executioner turned rōnin assassin—travelling the roads of Japan with his young son Daigorō in a baby cart. The film is the first of the celebrated six-film Lone Wolf and Cub series, adapted from the legendary manga by Kazuo Koike and Gōseki Kojima, and remains one of the most iconic father-and-son revenge sagas in Japanese cinema.

Design
A superb, high-impact “action tableau” design that captures the entire premise at a glance: Wakayama’s Ittō strides forward carrying Daigorō, face set in grim resolve, while behind him a violent wash of red brushstrokes and spray-like textures suggests blood, speed, and chaos. The bold blue title panel with oversized yellow characters 「子連れ狼」 dominates the left field, paired with the film subtitle 「子を貸し腕貸しつかまつる」—a graphic, unmistakably early-’70s Toho-era layout. Along the bottom, a kinetic battle scene erupts in the surf, echoing the series’ signature blend of stylised swordplay and elemental, almost mythic violence.
