This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1965 for the Japanese theatrical re-release of Love in the Afternoon (昼下りの情事), Billy Wilder’s romantic comedy starring Audrey Hepburn, Gary Cooper and Maurice Chevalier, released domestically by United Artists.

Film background
Adapted from Claude Anet’s novel Ariane, the film follows Ariane Chavasse, the imaginative daughter of a Parisian private detective. When she learns that one of her father’s clients plans to shoot his wife’s lover, the notorious American playboy Frank Flannagan, Ariane intervenes and becomes entangled in a flirtation of her own. Wilder balances humour and melancholy as the age‑gap romance deepens, aided by sparkling performances and a lush Parisian setting.

Poster design
The Japanese B2 offers a romantic, almost painterly collage.
