This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1984 for the first release of "Farewell to the Ark" (さらば箱舟 / Saraba Hakobune), directed by avant-garde legend Shūji Terayama.
"Farewell to the Ark" (さらば箱舟, 1984) is a surreal and dreamlike film by Shūji Terayama, loosely inspired by Gabriel García Márquez’s One Hundred Years of Solitude. Set in a remote, timeless Japanese village bound by strange customs and spiritual isolation, it follows a man trapped in a world where clocks are banned and family secrets run deep. Blurring myth, memory, and madness, the film explores themes of repression, tradition, and the desire to escape a decaying world.
