An original Japanese B2 theatrical re-release poster for Heaven Can Wait, featuring Warren Beatty’s memorable winged figure against a sky filled with clouds and sunlight. This version includes an inset advertising Franco Zeffirelli’s Romeo and Juliet alongside the main feature and carries the UIP distribution credit.

Originally released in 1978, the romantic fantasy-comedy stars Warren Beatty and Julie Christie, with James Mason, Dyan Cannon, Buck Henry and Jack Warden. Beatty also produced the film, co-directed with Buck Henry and co-wrote the screenplay with Elaine May.

The story follows Joe Pendleton, a professional football player mistakenly taken to heaven before his time. Returned to Earth in the body of a wealthy industrialist, he attempts to reclaim his sporting career while navigating an unfamiliar life and an unexpected romance.

The poster combines pale green borders, blue skies and luminous clouds with a vivid pink Japanese title. At its centre, Beatty wears a tracksuit and trainers, examining a stopwatch beneath a pair of feathered wings. The arched English title crowns the composition, while purple Japanese promotional text reinforces the film’s warm, optimistic tone.

The Romeo and Juliet panel names Olivia Hussey, Leonard Whiting and director Franco Zeffirelli, providing a distinctive detail of this Japanese theatrical campaign.

Excellent vintage condition. The poster retains attractive colours and presents cleanly overall, with light handling creases, minor edge wear and a few small marks visible in the photographs. It should display very well once framed.
