“Masters of the Universe” (マスターズ／超空の覇者), Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 1989, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) — E293

This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1989 for the first Japanese theatrical release of Masters of the Universe, starring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man. Originally released in America in 1987, the film reached Japanese cinemas two years later under the title マスターズ／超空の覇者, with a campaign that placed Lundgren’s imposing presence firmly at its centre.

Film background
Directed by Gary Goddard, this live-action adaptation brings Mattel’s fantasy universe to the screen, combining sword-and-sorcery adventure with futuristic technology and interplanetary travel. He-Man and his companions are transported from Eternia to Earth, where they must recover a cosmic key and confront the forces of Skeletor, played by Frank Langella.

The cast also includes Meg Foster, Billy Barty and Courteney Cox. With elaborate costumes, practical creature effects and a colourful blend of fantasy and science fiction, the film has become a nostalgic favourite among fans of 1980s adventure cinema.

Poster design
A commanding photograph of Lundgren in He-Man’s armour, holding a futuristic weapon and a sword, fills the composition. Warm orange lighting highlights the figure against a cool blue rectangular panel, surrounded by a dark starfield.

The Japanese title 「マスターズ」 stretches across the lower portion in enormous metallic blue lettering, with the subtitle 「超空の覇者」 printed beneath in vivid red. The original English logo sits in the upper-right corner, while bold Japanese promotional copy frames the hero.

The campaign also references Lundgren’s appearances in ** Rocky IV and Red Scorpion**, positioning the film around his growing action-star reputation. Its strong central portrait and oversized Japanese typography make this an especially striking display piece for He-Man and Dolph Lundgren collectors.

Condition
Excellent. There are light handling creases and gentle paper undulations, with minor edge wear. The colours remain strong, and the central image presents beautifully. Please review the photographs—they show the exact poster for sale.
