“Mazinger Z – TV Series Triplet Box” (マジンガーZ), Original Japanese B2 LaserDisc Promotional Poster 1995, B2 Size (c. 51 × 73 cm) O574

Sale price $120.00

This is an original Japanese B2 promotional poster printed by Toei Video to advertise the Mazinger Z “TVシリーズ全92話 Triplet Box” LaserDisc release in the mid‑1990s. The three‑box LD set—Rocket Punch Box, Breast Fire Box and Photon Beam Box—collected all 92 episodes of Go Nagai’s pioneering super‑robot anime, which originally aired on Fuji TV between 1972 and 1974.

Series background
Mazinger Z follows hot‑blooded pilot Kōji Kabuto as he commandeers the titanic robot Mazinger Z, built by his grandfather from “Japanium” alloy, to battle the Mechanical Beasts of mad scientist Dr. Hell. Widely credited as one of the first anime in which a young hero pilots a giant humanoid robot from a cockpit inside its head, the show helped define the “super robot” genre and remains a touchstone for mecha fans worldwide.

Poster design
The design is strikingly minimalist and moody. Against a nearly solid black background, a huge monochrome illustration of the robot’s head and shoulders dominates the sheet, rendered in rough, painterly strokes that give the metal a gritty, almost charcoal texture. The eyes blaze in stark white, while the twin head‑spikes thrust outward at a dramatic diagonal. At the top right, vivid red vertical text reads “魔神 GO!”, adding a sharp splash of colour that echoes the fiery tone of the series title. At the bottom, the logo “マジンガーZ” is printed in a hot gradient from yellow to magenta alongside a bright blue “Z”, with small red copy promoting the three Triplet Box sets and their on‑sale dates. The Toei LaserDisc logo glows in the top left corner, underscoring its mid‑’90s home‑video origins.

Condition
Good / Very Good. Please review the photos—they show the exact poster for sale. There is noticeable handling and a number of condition issues: several prominent creases and stress lines in the upper portion (including a few small surface breaks in the black ink near the helmet). The reverse shows horizontal rippling from past storage. The image is still very presentable, but the poster would benefit from flattening or linen backing if you want a more pristine display.

This is an original 1990s Japanese promotional B2 poster for the Toei LaserDisc release, not a reproduction or a reprint. Certificate of Authenticity included.

It is about 30 years old!
