An original Japanese B2 theatrical poster for the 1971 Japanese release of Woman’s Pride, directed by Mitsumasa Saito and starring Chieko Matsubara, Yuko Hama, Yoko Yamamoto, and Meiko Kaji. Produced by Nikkatsu and distributed by Dainichi Eihai, the film opened in Japan on 5 May 1971.
Inspired by Sachiko Nishida’s song of the same name, the drama explores love, disappointment, and complicated loyalties within Ginza’s nightlife. Its story centres on a club proprietress who discovers that her younger half-sister has become involved with the man she once loved.
The Japanese design places Chieko Matsubara at its centre through a large colour portrait, dressed in a delicate pink kimono with an elaborate swept-up hairstyle. Behind her, Yuko Hama appears in a floral kimono, creating a paired composition that emphasises the film’s female leads.
Three smaller portraits gather along the left side, combining traditional kimono with contemporary Western dress. The pale background and fine vertical blue lines give the arrangement a restrained elegance, while a vivid pink border frames the entire sheet.
The Japanese title, 女の意地, stretches across the lower portion in large, sweeping magenta lettering. A narrow line of promotional text above it introduces the film’s themes of romantic disappointment and the sorrow concealed beneath glamorous appearances.
Meiko Kaji’s name appears prominently within the cast credits, adding interest for collectors exploring her work beyond the action films for which she became internationally celebrated. The Nikkatsu identification at the upper left and Dainichi Eihai credit below the cast complete the period presentation.

Condition: Very Good. Previously folded, subsequently stored flat. The portraits remain attractive, with strong pink printing and very good overall display appeal.
