“Minority Report” (マイノリティ・リポート), Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 2002, Tom Cruise and Lexus Design, B2 Size (c. 51.5 × 72.8 cm) ZA1256
An original Japanese B2 theatrical poster for Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report, released in Japan by 20th Century Fox on 7 December 2002. This design pairs Tom Cruise’s profile with two vehicles from the film’s vision of Washington in 2054. Silver commuter cars travel up a vertical roadway, while the red Lexus concept car driven by Cruise fills the lower left.
In Excellent+ condition. The vivid red bodywork stands out against the cool blue cityscape, and the portrait retains fine detail.
Film background
Adapted from a short story by Philip K. Dick, Minority Report stars Cruise as John Anderton, chief of Washington’s Precrime unit. Three psychics can foresee murders, giving his officers time to intervene. When their next vision shows Anderton shooting a man he has never met, he goes on the run from his own colleagues. Colin Farrell, Samantha Morton and Max von Sydow co-star.
Poster design
Cruise looks towards the right edge of the sheet. At the upper left, a tiny figure balances on the roof of one of the silver vehicles. Below, a second image shows a raised hand caught in a flash of white light. The red Lexus, with its low canopy and exposed front wheel, was designed specifically for scenes in which Anderton drives beyond the city’s automated transport system.
Cruise’s name stretches across the top in silver katakana. The Japanese title sits beneath the car in two lines, with the English title alongside it. Across the foot of the sheet, the opening date leads into the Japanese campaign tagline.
「12/7 誰でも逃げる」
“7 December. Everybody runs.”
