“Mobile Suit Gundam: RX-93 ν Gundam” (RX-93 νガンダム), Original Japanese 20th Anniversary Poster 1999, Hirotoshi Sano Artwork, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) T289

This is an original, Japanese B2 poster issued by Movic for Gundam’s 20th anniversary in 1999, featuring spectacular artwork by Hirotoshi Sano (佐野浩敏). Celebrating Amuro Ray’s RX-93 ν Gundam, this collector’s poster carries the anniversary emblem, Movic branding, and the explicit credit “ILLUSTRATION by HIROTOSHI SANO.”

Franchise background
The ν Gundam—pronounced “Nu Gundam” appears in Yoshiyuki Tomino’s 1988 film Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack, which brings the rivalry between Amuro Ray and Char Aznable to its climactic confrontation. Its distinctive silhouette and towering fin funnels make it one of the franchise’s most recognisable mobile suits.

Poster design & artist
Sano depicts the ν Gundam looming out of blazing orange fire and deep blue-black smoke, its beam rifle thrust forward and its fin funnels extending beyond the upper edge. The close viewpoint gives the machine extraordinary weight and presence.

Fiery light washes across the armour, turning its surfaces into glowing copper and orange planes. Heavy shadows define the joints and mechanical recesses, while small green highlights in the eyes sharpen its intimidating expression. The textured painting gives the armour a convincing sense of mass, with an intensity that makes this an exceptional display piece.

Hirotoshi Sano is an accomplished animator and illustrator whose credits include mechanical animation direction on Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory and work as mechanical director on Mobile Fighter G Gundam. His printed signature appears near the lower left, with the restrained RX-93 heading above.
