“My Neighbor Totoro” (となりのトトロ), Original Japanese Animage Records Promotional Poster 1988, Studio Ghibli, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O711
This is an original licensed promotional (販促) B2 poster produced in 1988 in Japan for Hayao Miyazaki’s My Neighbor Totoro (となりのトトロ). Issued for retail/bookstore and merchandise display (not a cinema one-sheet), it carries period rights for Nibariki / Tokuma Shoten and was distributed by Animage / Tokuma Japan Corporation as part of the film’s original-era promotion.
Poster design
A beautiful and exceptionally unusual Totoro design, rendered in a delicate watercolour / image-board-like style rather than conventional finished cel artwork. Viewed from above, Totoro soars over a softly rendered rural landscape with Satsuki and Mei clinging to him, while the Catbus sweeps dramatically into the composition at the right. Muted washes of blue, grey, cream and pale pink give the poster an almost dreamlike quality.
The commercial typography is deliberately minimal: ANIMAGE RECORDS / TOKUMA JAPAN CORPORATION runs vertically along the left edge, while MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO appears discreetly at the opposite side. The restraint allows the artwork itself to dominate, giving the sheet the character of an animation art study rather than conventional advertising.
Animage Records promotional posters were associated with the music and soundtrack side of Tokuma’s animation business and were produced for promotional rather than ordinary theatrical use, giving them a distinctly different collecting appeal from standard cinema posters.
Age & authenticity (as printed on this exact example)

Corner rights line visible on close-up: © 二馬力・徳間書店 (Nibariki / Tokuma Shoten), consistent with an official licensed promotional issue.
No rating / booking / cinema text—consistent with a non-theatrical promotional poster.
Condition
Near Mint. An exceptionally well-preserved example with beautifully clean paper, sharp margins and superb retention of the poster’s subtle blue-grey and pastel tones.
