This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed for the 1984 release of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, the landmark animated feature written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and based on his own manga. Produced just before the formal founding of Studio Ghibli, it is widely regarded as a foundational work in modern Japanese animation.

Film background
Set in a distant future after an apocalyptic war, the film follows Nausicaä, a compassionate princess of the Valley of the Wind. As toxic forests and giant insect creatures called Ohmu spread across the earth, human kingdoms vie for dwindling resources and resurrect ancient superweapons. Nausicaä seeks understanding rather than domination, trying to uncover the true nature of the forest and avert another catastrophe. Its environmental themes, strong heroine and richly imagined world have made it a classic.

Poster design
The B2 artwork showcases one of the film’s most memorable images. Nausicaä strides forward in her blue flight outfit, fox‑squirrel Teto perched on her shoulder, set against the looming shell of a massive Ohmu and the eerie fungal landscape of the Toxic Jungle.
