"Quadrophenia", Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1979, B2 Size (51 cm x 73 cm) L270

Sale price $200.00

This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1979 for the original release of Quadrophenia.

A striking and unusual Japanese B2 poster for Quadrophenia (1979), the iconic British film loosely based on The Who’s rock opera. Distributed in Japan under the translated title さらば青春の光 (“Saraba Seishun no Hikari” or "Farewell, Light of Youth"), this poster was printed for the film’s 1980 domestic release.

What makes this poster especially memorable is its poetic, collage-style design—a departure from the film’s raw mod aesthetic. It features a sepia-toned photograph of protagonists Jimmy (Phil Daniels) and Steph (Leslie Ash), subtly laid over a textured canvas-style background, punctuated by autumnal leaves, evoking the film’s theme of fleeting youth and disillusionment. The Japanese title is rendered in multicolour vertical calligraphy, adding visual contrast and emotional depth.

This poster is in excellent condition. Please refer to the imagery (both front and back) as this is the exact poster that is for sale.
