“They Came to Rob Las Vegas” (ラスベガス強奪作戦), Original Japanese Movie Poster 1968, Gary Lockwood / Elke Sommer, B2 Size (c. 51 × 73 cm) — T54

Sale price $110.00

This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster for the 1968 first Japanese release of They Came to Rob Las Vegas, released in Japan as ラスベガス強奪作戦. Its densely illustrated composition combines casino glamour, armed confrontation and explosive action in a striking example of late-1960s film publicity.

Directed by Antonio Isasi-Isasmendi, the international heist thriller stars Gary Lockwood, Elke Sommer, Lee J. Cobb and Jack Palance. The story follows a casino dealer who organises an ambitious robbery of a heavily protected armoured truck in the Nevada desert. An elaborate plan to conceal the vehicle becomes increasingly dangerous as rival interests, internal tensions and a federal investigation converge.

The artwork centres on a commanding portrait of Gary Lockwood, surrounded by Elke Sommer, Jack Palance and Lee J. Cobb. Sommer also appears in a pale evening dress along the left side, while an embracing couple above introduces the film’s romantic intrigue. Slot machines, illuminated casino signs and a prominent roulette wheel establish the Las Vegas setting.

Helicopters, running figures and a masked man wielding a flame-producing weapon fill the surrounding montage. Two oversized handguns project towards the viewer, while a pair of sunglasses near the bottom contains a reflected action scene. These overlapping images give the composition the busy, dramatic character associated with international adventure and crime posters of the period.

The enormous red Japanese title 「ラスベガス強奪作戦」 stretches across the lower section in angular lettering with a deliberately rough texture. The stacked English title appears above the central montage, accompanied by Technicolor and Techniscope lettering. Warner Bros.–Seven Arts branding runs along the bottom margin.

The red promotional copy across the top reads:

「ハラハラする面白さ!巨大なパワーをぶちこんで徹底的に攻めまくるデッドヒート・アクション!」
“Edge-of-your-seat excitement! Overwhelming power and relentless, high-speed action!”

The combination of glamorous portraits, casino imagery and forceful typography makes this an appealing piece for collectors of 1960s heist cinema, Elke Sommer, Gary Lockwood and Japanese illustrated film posters.
