This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 2021 for the “Jim Jarmusch Retrospective” in Japan, promoting Permanent Vacation (1980). A scarce Japan-only reissue produced in a small run for select venues—much harder to find than standard international materials.
Film background
Jim Jarmusch’s first feature drifts through downtown Manhattan with Allie (Chris Parker), a jazz-loving wanderer whose aimless days sketch the mood of pre-gentrification New York. An essential prelude to the director’s later minimalist classics.
Poster design
Monochrome and minimalist: a grainy room still occupies the top band beneath “JIM JARMUSCH Retrospective 2021.” Below, a vast black field carries a bold “P” filled with a city-skyline texture, clean sans-serif titling, and compact credit stack—elegant, graphic, and unique to this Japanese retrospective campaign.
