This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1974 for the re-release of Bambi.
Though production on Bambi started in 1936, Walt Disney's relentless pursuit of perfection pushed the film's release in America back to 1942. As a result, it was Disney's final animated feature film before the outbreak of World War II, as wartime cutbacks forced the studio to cease feature length production. The film tells the story of a young deer, Bambi, growing up in the forest with his friends Thumper, Flower and Faline. Bambi's father is the Great Prince of the Forest, and protects the woodland creatures from hunters. Sweet Bambi will eventually take over this title and its responsibility. Disney changed the species of deer from a roe deer to a mule deer, as these are more common in America.
