“Please, Not Now!” (La Bride sur le cou / 何がなんでも首ったけ), Original Release Japanese Movie Speed Poster 1961, Speed Size (c. 26 × 73 cm) P213

Sale price $250.00

This is an original Japanese speed-size theatrical poster printed for the first Japanese release of Please, Not Now! (original French title La Bride sur le cou), a French romantic comedy directed by Roger Vadim and starring Brigitte Bardot. This title opened in Japan on 5 December 1961 (Tōwa release).

A quintessential early-’60s Bardot vehicle: she plays Sophie, a young model who believes her boyfriend is about to leave her for another woman—so she sets out to win him back (or ruin him trying), triggering a chain of jealousies, misunderstandings, and comedic escalation from Paris to the Alps.

A wonderfully graphic, pop-forward Japanese layout built around a huge, glamour close-up of Bardot, with a cascade of “BB” playing-card vignettes (skiing, romance, slapstick) that sell the film’s saucy, fast-moving tone at a glance. The bold green title typography reads vertically as 何がなんでも首ったけ (“head-over-heels, no matter what”), with the French title ribbon LA BRIDE SUR LE COU at the top—pure early-’60s international-cinema chic.

A particularly appealing feature here is the fully printed verso (synopsis text and stills), giving this piece the feel of a true cinema-use promotional sheet rather than a blank-back display poster.
