This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster for the 1971 Japanese release of Red Sun, directed by Terence Young and starring Alain Delon, Toshirō Mifune, Charles Bronson, and Ursula Andress. Issued in Japan by Towa, this striking design places Delon at the centre of the film’s international cast.

The film combines western adventure and samurai drama, following the theft of a Japanese ceremonial sword during a train robbery. Its recovery brings together a samurai and an outlaw in an uneasy alliance across the American frontier, setting personal revenge against duty and honour.

The poster features a large colour photographic portrait of Alain Delon, wearing a black hat and dark coat, with Ursula Andress partially visible behind him. Dry reeds cut across the foreground, creating a tense, partially concealed view of the characters. Warm golden tones contrast with the deep blacks of Delon’s clothing and the pale fabric of his shirt.

At the lower left, a vivid red sunburst contains the bold white “RED SUN” title, accompanied by compact English billing for the principal cast and director. Beneath it appear the Japanese title 「レッド・サン」 and the Towa distributor emblem. The restrained lettering allows the large photographic image to dominate the composition.
