“Red Sun”, Original First‑Release Japanese STB Tatekan 1971, Rare, STB Size (c. 51 × 145 cm / 20 × 57 in) O404

Sale price $300.00

This is an original Japanese STB printed for the first Japanese release of Terence Young’s Red Sun, starring Charles Bronson, Toshiro Mifune, Alain Delon and Ursula Andress. Japan opened the film on 1971‑11‑26, distributed by Tōwa (東和); the sheet carries the era’s Cinerama branding used in Japanese marketing.

Translations of on‑poster Japanese (highlights):

  • Header: 「シネラマ」 (Cinerama), with copy indicating color presentation and stereophonic sound.

  • Cast stack: アラン・ドロン/三船敏郎/チャールズ・ブロンソン etc.; large brush‑stroke motif slashed across the sheet; English slug “RED SUN” appears in a red medallion.

Design notes:
An arresting East‑meets‑West layout: bold sumi‑ink style strokes carve through portraits of Delon, Mifune, and Bronson, while action panels (cavalry, burning fields) run along the base. The TOWA bug and Eirin mark tie it to the first‑issue campaign.

Condition: Excellent. Clean surface, strong colors.

Certificate of Authenticity included.
