“Rendez-vous à Melbourne (The Melbourne Rendez-Vous)” (美と力の祭典/メルボルン・オリンピックの記録), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1957, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O10

Sale price $350.00

This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1957 for the first Japanese release of Rendez-vous à Melbourne, the official filmed record of the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games, directed by René Lucot and released domestically by Towa Film.

This poster is almost seven decades old with artwork by Hisamitsu Noguchi.

Poster design
A dynamic female athlete mid-throw commands the composition against a cool grey field, encircled by a cascade of national flags and the Olympic rings. The bold red vertical title 「美と力の祭典」 anchors the right side, with “RENDEZ-VOUS à MELBOURNE” lettered along the bottom and the Towa emblem at lower left. The artwork is signed “h. noguchi” on the poster—attributed to celebrated illustrator Hisamitsu Noguchi (野口久光), long associated with poster design for Towa-distributed films.
