"Rising Sun" (ライジング・サン), Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 1980, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O394

Sale price $100.00

This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1980 for the Hong Kong documentary Rising Sun, directed by Ed Kong (Kong Chi-Man), with U.S. exploitation filmmaker Robert A. Endelson involved on the production/editing side; released in Japan by Nippon Herald. The film surveys Japan’s wartime past through archival footage and contemporary perspectives—distinct from the 1993 U.S. thriller of the same title.

Design
Bold, typographic impact: giant metallic-gold RISING SUN letterforms cut across the center. Above, a grainy monochrome still shows flight-goggled airmen gathered on an airfield; below, blurred motorcycle headlights rush the viewer—youth energy set against history. A red katakana title 「ライジング・サン」 and a small rising-sun emblem punctuate the layout, with the Nippon Herald credit in the base.

Condition
