“RoboCop” (ロボコップ), Original Japanese Promotional Poster c. 1988, Very Rare Metallic Design, B2 Size (51.5 × 72.8 cm) — T244

Sale price $150.00

This is an original Japanese B2 promotional poster for RoboCop, featuring a very rare metallic design that gives the film’s armoured protagonist a particularly striking setting. Its reflective surface and mechanical imagery make this an outstanding display piece for collectors of science-fiction cinema and unusual Japanese poster designs.

Directed by Paul Verhoeven, the original 1987 film stars Peter Weller as Alex Murphy, a Detroit police officer rebuilt as a cyborg after a brutal attack. As fragments of his former life return, Murphy begins to reclaim his identity beneath the machinery. Combining action with sharp satire of corporate power, consumer culture and privatised policing, RoboCop became one of the defining science-fiction films of the decade.

The poster places RoboCop breaking through a fractured concrete wall at the centre of the composition. His silver-blue armour catches the light as he steps forward through the rubble, pistol lowered in one hand and the other clenched beside the shattered opening. Warm light behind him provides a dramatic contrast to the cool metallic tones.

Around this central image, an elaborate field of industrial panels, circular fittings, vents and mechanical seams extends to the edges of the sheet. The reflective finish reinforces the subject beautifully, giving the surrounding machinery a changing appearance as the light and viewing angle shift.

The large ROBOCOP logo beneath the image completes the composition. With minimal text and no conventional theatrical credit block, the design concentrates attention on the character, the mechanical setting and the distinctive surface finish.

Condition: Excellent+.
